Forest In Nepal

Due to wide variations of topography, climate and seraphic conditions that can be found in Nepal variety of forests are exist in Nepal. Official data claims, they cover about 39.6% of the total land area distributed among tropical, sub-tropical, temperate, sub-alpine and alpine zones.

With proper implementation of the twenty years master plan for forestry sector and successful operation of 'Community forest" programs, introduced by the government, forest in Nepal has been able to improve and re-establish to some extent but he massive deforestation of the past has still left its impact mainly in the terai and inner terai region.

However, the praise worthy 'Community forest' project has helped to organize about 12,000-community forest consuming groups, managing around 850,000 hector of land nationwide.

This has resulted in not only profound use of the forest but also beneficial to community developments. In Terai region, outside the conservated areas the government has initiated projects concerned with "Terai are landscape" to manage the forest area and to conserve its bio-diversity.

But, with depleted financial resources and rising monetary problems, the economic condition of National Forest Management is In real bad shape. Moreover, the lack of awareness of the need of conservation of the forest, joint venture investments and active participation of the people from the private sector to save the forest for the common good of the mankind to save the environment of the mother earth has been very discouraging in Nepal even though policies have been made to attract prospective investments and involvements.

Hence, our project encourages every common people from private sector to be actively involved in this "Afforestation Project".
